Wesley Western, AIFA is founder and principal of Absolute Performance Verification LLC, a firm at the forefront of GIPS® verification in the U.S. Absolute provides GIPS pre-verification, verification, and examination services, as well as consulting services on performance measurement issues and systems to investment managers.
Prior to starting Absolute Performance Verification, Wesley was head of the investment performance measurement group at Moss Adams LLP, the largest west-coast headquartered accounting and consulting firm in the U.S, advising investment managers on the application and implementation of the GIPS standards.
At Franklin Templeton Investments throughout the 1990s, Wesley managed the investment performance measurement and GIPS compliance process for the firm’s internationally invested institutional portfolios. Responsibilities included the selection of a GIPS verifier and internal management of the third-party verification process.
Wesley has presented to CFA Institute member societies in several U.S. cities as well as at national investment-performance conferences on the subject of GIPS compliance and investment performance. He has been interviewed and featured in national financial publications. A member of CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Seattle, Wesley has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst designation.
Wesley earned a Master of Business Administration in finance at Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in finance and banking at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Wesley coaches his daughter’s soccer team and his son’s T-ball team.
Leisa Sánchez Western, CIPM is co-founder and principal of Absolute Performance Verification. She specializes in helping firms customize their plans for compliance with the CFA Institute’s Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®). A seasoned institutional marketer, Leisa has experienced the marketing benefits of the GIPS standards first-hand and understands the multitude of reasons why firms choose to become GIPS verified.
Previously, she was vice president in defined contribution services marketing at Raymond James Financial Services and assistant vice president in the Institutional Division at Franklin Templeton Investments. A CIPM certificant, Leisa is also Treasurer on the board of the CFA Society of Seattle.
Leisa holds a Master of Science in integrated marketing and a Bachelor of Science in iournalism from Florida International University. She has held several securities licenses during the course of her career and has written numerous articles on investment management practices. She speaks Spanish fluently. Leisa is on the parent board at her children’s school and is the school’s volunteer elementary-grades golf coach.
